Dunmanway Municipal Pool
Dunmanway is the home town of the famous War of Independence hero and GAA icon whose name is today immortalised in the prestigious Sam Maguire Cup and whose birthplace lies only 6km north of the town. There is a statue of Sam in the town’s main square and he is buried in the cemetery adjoining St. Mary’s Church.
Ireland’s craziest Adventure Land located just outside Dunmanway Town, high over the beautiful rebel countryside and home of Europe’s only cornered zorb riding track.
Dunmanway’s town park has been home to an indoor heated swimming pool for many years, with the 25 metre pool being the only public swimming pool in the West Cork area. It also has a Children’s recreation area along with tennis courts and is adjoined by an 18 hole pitch and putt course.
Just a few minutes drive from Dunmanway town and at a height of 535m Nowen Hill is the highest point in the South Cork Hills and it is a nice steady and easy walk up to the very top of the hill, with incredible views of Dunmaway town, The Kerry Hills, Bantry Bay, Dunmanus Bay, Roaring Water Bay, and coastline and islands right the way to Cork City.
